A First In Everything

By Lee 0

Please indulge me folks as I temporarily write about a non-sport psychology topic.  Just wanted to share my joy after finding out I won my first golf tournament!

Proof is in the putting, pun intended

Proof is in the putting, pun intended

Yessir, I was surprised to find out that I had won the Guests’ Class C division of the 14th St. Jude Classic played yesterday at the Valley Golf North Course.  Never mind if the gross and net scores were high.  And never mind if I lost a couple of balls in the process and came close to breaking my 7-wood in half.  The big thing was the winning as it always is.

Not that I haven’t experienced winning a sports competition before, but to win my first one in a sport that is so difficult to get good at?  I don’t know if it was the individual nature of the sport that made it so much more fulfilling, or whether it was all those long hours searching for balls in the forest, fishing balls out of the pond, and just standing on the tee box perplexed with how the ball went far right when I was aiming left.

So this is how it feels.

Can’t wait for the next tee time.
